February 21st Weekly Finds

Welcome back to Weekly Finds! Back in 2021, I started this series within my blog to share resources I found while searching the Internet and social media. I was very surprised at how popular it was and how other educators…

I’m not searching for resources quite as much as I once was, so for now, I’ll share my top 3 finds each week and we’ll see how it goes!

1. edushare.ing

I didn’t realize that URL shorteners are now redirecting the links you click on to show advertisements before they take you where you want to go. Not thrilled at that prospect! Enter Edushare.ing! Community college professor Brent Warner built a URL shortener that any teacher can use to share links to things like their slide decks for presentations.

Here’s his original post on LinkedIn.

2. Talk with your Students About Learning Accommodations

I’m at the tail-end of our professional development needs assessment and one of the findings is a need for having additional strategies when working with special education students. I always enjoy the coincidence when a topic is on my brain and an article about said topic drops into my lap. The article “It’s Important to Talk About Learning Accommodations With Your Students—Here’s How to Do It” by Edutopia is a good read with tips on how to talk with students of all ages about fairness, equity, and advocacy surrounding accommodations.

3. Inspect Writing Feature in Brisk Teaching

My school division uses Brisk Teaching for AI and I swear I learn something new about it every day! Here’s a great tip from Madeleine Champagnie on Bluesky about using the inspect writing feature when working in Google Docs. Note: when I copied this link, I received a warning saying, “This post is only visible to logged-in users. It won’t be visible to people who aren’t logged in.” So you may have to have a Bluesky account to access.
