1. Vote for Top Tools of 2023

I’m a facilitator for the Canvas Certified Educator (CCE) program and in my current class, a participant shared that they use Jane Hart’s learning site, Top Tools for Learning, as a resource for finding out more about digital tools. I had not heard of this site before and checked it out. You can also be part of the site’s vote for this year’s best tools!

2. Adding Names on Canva Whiteboard

I haven’t really used the whiteboard feature on Canva before, but I think it’s pretty slick that students can quickly add their name with a right click as you see in the gif below.

In fact, the whole whiteboard setup is pretty awesome. I double checked that you could use this feature in the free educator account and you can and was amazed by all the templates teachers can use within the whiteboard. I’m a pretty big fan of Google Jamboard, but I need to try out this tool a little more too!

3. How Students Should be Searching for Images Online

Thanks Stevie Frank (and Matt Miller) for a wonderful reminder on how students and teachers should get and use images in projects. As the semester winds down and hopefully you get to use alternative assessments to assess student learning, your students will probably be using a lot of images. It’s always a good reminder to go over the difference between copyrighted and creative common images, also known as images students should and shouldn’t use. My favorite from the below resource is definitely Unsplash. I use it all the time!

4. A Complete AI Classroom Guide podcast

I listen to a lot of podcasts, some about the education industry and some not, but I saw Vicky Davis post about a very interesting topic going around these days and thought I need to share this out and then go back and listen to this! It will be in my queue this week! I would love to hear your thoughts about this too!

5. Ways to Make Classroom Participation More Inclusive

I’ve been looking at different discussion resources lately and this video from Edutopia gives some good insights on how to encourage participation and make it easier for everyone to join in.
