Welcome to a new Weekly Finds! I received some responses for my graduate school project, but I could always use more! Fill out this quick survey! Thanks!
1. Constructing Language Objectives
Language Objectives have been a big topic at my school, so this Twitter thread caught my attention, especially Sherry Teacher’s response. She shares different graphics that show what they are, how to construct them, and how they differ from content objectives.
2. Lesson Plan for a Sub
I remember watching The Ron Clark Story starring Matthew Perry early in my teaching career and was fascinated by the scene where Clark records his lessons and knows who is going to complete their work or who may be distracted and needs to be redirected, without even being in the room! Erick Decker may not go that far, but this video is gold! The way he sets up each part of the assignment and goes through it, is exactly how an assignment should be done in ANY learning environment, in person or through your school’s LMS. Thanks, Stevie Frank for sharing on Twitter!
3. Canva + The Noun Project
Canva and The Noun Project have partnered up! To add Noun Project icons to your Canva projects, go to “Elements” and search for icons by adding the keyword “@nounproject” to filter for only those icons – or visit Noun Project’s Canva page to select icons directly. Then customize with colors, size, and rotation.
4. Levels of Language Proficiency
It’s hard when students move in the middle of the year to know what they’ve been taught or haven’t been and how that knowledge relates to your content; it’s even harder when it involves multilingual learners and each state has different language assessments and different ways of interpreting proficiency. This graphic from Valentina Gonzalez shows the various state assessments used and how they compare.
