Weekly Finds

February 24th Weekly Finds

My apologies for the lack of Weekly Finds lately. It’s been a month, between catching COVID and a sinus infection. Just pass me the cough drops…

1. Got Boring Lessons?

One of the things I love about the teaching community on Twitter is talking about ideas and sharing what works for us. Ainsley Hill asked teachers to share strategies for when they have to deliver boring content and several delivered! One teacher commented that they create a bingo board of different look for’s and students check them off as they go.

2. Go, Go Google Drawings

Google Drawings (and Google Slides) have so many fun components for design and art. But these two examples blow MY MIND! The first one was created by an 8th grader! I’m not sure about the second one, if this is a student or adult, but I wish I could do this…

3. Every Little Bit Helps

Teacher2Teacher is a community I connected with on Twitter. You can connect with other educators to share resources, learn from one another, and solve the BIG teaching problems.

They asked the community, “what’s one ‘teacher hack’ that has made your life a little easier?” I’m all about time-saving productivity tips and good ideas in general! Check out the 50+ replies below with everything from how to store posters to creating time-delayed posts:

4. Transparent Backgrounds in Canva Video

I have only played with the video editor in Canva so far, but it’s really cool. One of these days I’ll get around to making a real video with it. But this is a GREAT feature – you can take the backgrounds out of your videos! So if you just want you and only you, everything else will be taken away. This is only available in the paid pro and free educator accounts, so if you haven’t signed up for an educator account yet, go do that!

5. Let’s Use Some Shortcuts

You can now use Keyboard shortcuts in Google Drive! Jake Miller shared this quick GIF below on Instagram showing how it works. You can check out all the shortcuts here!
