Weekly Finds

December 9th Weekly Finds

1. Flashlight Dance

I LOVE this tweet!! How fun and creative is this? I bet it would bring a whole other level of excitement if there were colored lights too. For older grade levels, you could have students create their own dances and share out.

2. AppSmash with Canva

What apps are you appsmashing with Canva? If you’re not sure what the possibilities are, you should check out the tweet below and see how others are using:

3. The Picture Word Inductive Model

One of my work friends teaches ESOL students and is a big follower of the work that Valentina Gonzalez does and from this video, I can see why. There’s so much this model does from observing all the things in a picture to a better understanding of language. Very cool!

4. Math = A Dinner Party

I like the way Mathallday thinks! Food is a universal engagement tool for sure! Have students plan a dinner party using grocery store ads and work in their math, specifically decimal skills at the same time! Brilliant!

5. 5 Ways to Gamify Class

In this video, Matt describes how to gamify classes using the site Genially. I used it this summer for a couple of infographics I created for a PD course and really liked what it offered. I need to dig into it a bit more and actually have a PD on it, but these great ways to get started using the site.
