June 3 Weekly Finds

1. Adobe Creative Educator Livestream Show

Last week, I shared Adobe for Education’s Creativity show on YouTube, but they also have another show for educators that you can stream on YouTube, Facebook or Twitter. This show airs on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 10:30 PT. Click to view the YouTube playlist of previous episodes or save the playlist.

Really you should just check out their YouTube channel because there’s really great stuff there!

2. Eduprotocols + WeVideo

If you’re a fan of Eduprotocols, then you know there are several activities that include the use of the Frayer Model. You can take things to the next level by using WeVideo, which has a bunch of templates, including one for the Frayer Model.

3. Accessibility Rubric

The Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) shared a great rubric for helping teachers get started with digital accessibility, something that can help any teacher using an LMS such as Canvas, Schoology, etc.

4. Operation: Nixon and Watergate

Remember the old Operation board game where you couldn’t hit the sides or you would get buzzed? Well, one unique history teacher took that board game and reinvented it into a QR code activity to teach about the Watergate Scandal.

5. Wrap Up Units with Genius Hour

I subscribe to the Kasey Bell theory that we need to give students more time to dig into the content and not just move on to a new area. So this idea by Brett Benson really resonated with me. Give students a little time at the end of a unit to dig into the content a bit more and share their learning with others!
