1. Low-Lift, High-Impact Shifts
Julie Stern shares her 3 ways to make high-impact shifts in your classroom that won’t overwhelm you.
2. In Need of Lessons About the 1980’s
I love that Twitter is a great place to ask for resources because you’ll get LOTS of good ideas. This teacher was looking for neat lessons featuring the 1980’s. The responses included a choice board and having students create their own mixtapes. See if there’s something you can adapt or add to the list!
3. Flash Fiction Unit
I hadn’t heard of this concept of Flash Fiction before, but it looks like a really great idea! Flash fiction is essentially defined as a very short story, with no set word count but typically consists of less than 300 words.
But I like this idea of decreasing the word count with each go. I think this would be a great way to go through the editing process and show students how many filler words they use and how concise they can get with their writing.
4. Wakelet Community Week
This is a FREE week-long conference from June 13 – 17, provided by one of my favorite edtech tools! I think this is the 3rd year they’ve done this and each year they have really great sessions to show you the versatility and power of how you can use Wakelet in the classroom.
This year’s community week features:
- Feature Presentations – keynotes from some amazing speakers on some really important topics
- Spotlight Sessions – which will shine a light on how you can get the most out of Wakelet
- Popcorn PD – 30-minute bitesize sessions
- 12-hour Livestream – hear from 36 Ambassadors as they share some of the top ways they’ve been using Wakelet
- Backstage Breakouts – a perfect way to meet new people from across the world. Connect with your fellow community members and attendees
Speakers include: Dr. Monica Burns, Ken Shelton, Matt Miller, Manuel Herrera, and The Merrills. You can click to check out the full lineup for the week or watch the below video for more information:
5. Inject Creativity Live
Did you know Adobe for Education has its own YouTube show called Inject Creativity Live? I had no idea until I was scrolling through YouTube earlier this week! This week’s episode, number 65, is about using Adobe tools to enhance a number of entrepreneurial activities.
