February 4 Weekly Finds

1. Writing Pathboard

Writing is difficult for many students and teachers, so this writing pathboard from Dawn Dickerson is awesome! I like that it can help guide students with reminders for each step in the writing process while also keeping them on track as a checklist.

2. Directions with a Magnifying Effect

Tony Vincent shared this graphic showing how he magnifies parts of an image within directions to make it clear what the next step is. Brilliant!

3. Character Builder in Canva!

A fellow ITC, Katie Fielding, shared that Canva has a character builder! I had no idea and I’m very excited to try it out! Find it on the left side navigation under “MORE” and then look for “CHARACTER BUILDER”.

4. Cognitive Overload

As my school moved into the second semester, I was working with several teachers to assist in updating their Canvas courses and we talked a lot about breaking down and chunking information to not overwhelm students. So this graphic felt fairly relative! I like that it explains the reason behind the overload AND gives a solution to keep it from happening. A great graphic to print out and keep at your desk as a quick reference!
