Weekly Finds

December 3 Weekly Finds

1. Pathboard Ideas

I really like the idea of Pathboards; they remind me of playing Monopoly and The Game of Life as a child and as a learner I like the idea of following a path to my learning destination. Here are two examples I’ve seen recently from @kyteacher Angela Hamblen Zorn and @MsAkeyla:

2. Video Creation Tools

@JakeMillerTech shared out this awesome graphic featuring 7 Video Creation Tools students can use to demonstrate their understanding. I would also add to this list, the new Canva video editor, the clips app (IOS) and iMovie. It’s been awhile since I’ve used iMovie, but it was one of my favorite past video editors. I played around with the Canva video editor for about 10 minutes during our Fall break and it’s really good! Very intuitive and with more use time could be a decent rival for my current editing tool WeVideo.

3. PhotoPea

I’m really into design techniques at the moment and how you can incorporate it into activities. I’ve learned a lot from @tonyvincent, even taking his Classy Graphics course. He recommends PhotoPea.com as a way to outline pictures, which can then be used for stickers, badges, and more!

I know how to do this with Canva, but if that’s a resource you can’t get to, this is great for other apps such as Google Slides or Drawings.

4. Emoji Power Paragraph

Here’s a great activity to get students thinking outside the box. If you don’t have access to Seesaw, you could also build this activity in Google Jamboard or Google Slides using Peardeck and I would also assume Nearpod (never used it, so I’m not sure!).
